Mushroom Tacos

Taco Meat

1- In a pan, sauté

1 onion, diced

1 jalapeno, diced

200 g mushrooms, shredded

2 tbsp infused hibiscus petals*

2- Add

1 tbsp chili powder

Juice 1/2 lime

1 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp garlic powder

3- Cook in a pan on medium-high for 10 min.

Add water to deglaze pan as needed.

4- Serve with corn tortillas, salsa and yogurt.


*reuse hibiscus infusion to make hibiscus grapefruit beverage or drink as is.


This recipe comes from a Mexican chef that I know. One day, he told me about hibiscus petals being added in taco meat to add an Umami flavour. I never made tacos without it since then. I hope this will elevate your taco experience as well :).
